PlayStation Productions is the official name for the production studio that will bring many of Sony’s popular games to life in the form of films and TV shows.
The new enterprise will be led by Asad Qizilbash and is ‘already in production for its first slate of projects and has set up shop on the Sony Studios lot in Culver City.”
“We’ve got 25 years of game development experience and that’s created 25 of great games, franchises and stories. We feel now is a good time to look at other media opportunities across streaming or film or television to give our worlds life in another spectrum.”
Sony will be producing the films in-house with PlayStation Productions and Sony Studios will help with distribution.
With franchises such as Metal Gear Solid, Spyro the Dragon, The Last of Us and God of War, Sony has a large variety of genres to explore.
Let’s hope they take their time.
